CAPSULES, 2023 - blown glass, metal, paint, rope- ceramics, enamels, variable dimensions - © Ithier Held
This installation looks at the privatisation of sterile hybrid seeds, symbolising the conflict between industrial dependence and the preservation of farmers' seeds. It is an oversized representation of the most widely used seeds in Europe, made of blown glass and ceramic. The work evokes urgency and fragility, the bright red recalls toxic coatings. The blown glass seeds are carried like rucksacks. The ceramic seeds, sometimes unfired, disintegrate under the effect of rain and time, turning into mud ready to be reused for a renewal.
